Our application process is simple and seamless. All you need to do is to complete our online application with your desired dates.

Once you have made your research and you are able to specify your project of interest and where you will like to go for your internship/volunteer assignment. We do require an applicant to email his / her CV, photograph as well as any other supporting documents as required.

Then,  we will check for program availability and if you are suitable for your chosen project. After,  we will accept you onto the program. Once you have been accepted for your chosen dates, you will be invited to complete your registration by paying your placement Fee. This will then confirm your place on the program.

Please Note: Depending on each individual situation, the acceptance process may take up to 10 (ten) business days.

Once your application has been accepted, you will need to pay your application and program fees. Then, you will be schedule to take our pre-departure orientation training, provide you with other preparation tools such as Program Guide, a comprehensive preparation checklist, etc.

Yes, you can make changes to your start date once your payment has been received. But you can make your request at  least 21 days before your departure by sending us an email.

The application/ processing fees that we charge covers our expenses for the services that we render to all our participants including organize your trip, ensure you are prepared in advance, and support you before, during and after your trip.

Upon arrival at the host country, we provide an airport pick up, on-site orientation meeting, accommodation and meals, and 24/7 local support for the duration of your program. Your Program Fee covers these costs. Many of the local organizations

our volunteers support are NGOs, not-for-profits or small community organizations, so it is unrealistic to expect these organizations to cover the costs of hosting you.

All participants are required to pay two sets of fees:

  • Administrative fees
  • Program fees

The administrative fees covers your application and processing costs of $199, which covers our value added services to organizing your trip and supporting you from start to finish.

Program Fee  is paid separately as this is passed on to the local team and organization hosting you in-country to cover the expenses associated with your stay, including your airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, food and staff support to ensure that your volunteer program goes as smoothly as possible.

All of our projects have various requirements ranging from minimum age to physical demands. Additionally, each participant must be fluent in English language,  a clean criminal background, and a willingness to learn and serve.

Please Note:

For our Medical and Healthcare projects, each participant must be qualified and/or getting  training in a specific medical area with a valid documentation to substantiate the claim.

We guide each participant by offering suggestions on how to get an affordable air ticket.

We can  guide you about how to obtain visa for project destination. At the same time, we recommend that each participant should visit the website of the hosting country embassy for more information or visit the embassy in person.

There are several countries that offer Visa On Arrival, E-Visa, and/or a Visa-Free Stay for a minimum of 90 days. Countries such as Ghana, Nepal, India, Thailand, Spain, and few South American countries have a fairly easy application process. 

For instance, US Citizens can travel for an initial 90 days without a visa in most South American Countries. Similarly, Spain lets American Citizens in without a visa for business and travel purposes for a maximum of 90 days. Similarly, Portugal, which is also a member of the Schengen Visa Agreement has the same guidelines for US Citizens. 

Furthermore, Canadian and Australian citizens do not need a visa, just a passport valid for a minimum of 3 months beyond the period of intended stay for traveling and volunteering in Spain and Portugal for a maximum of 90 days. All the Passports (or equivalent travel documents) issued more than ten years before the date of travel, may not be accepted.

Staying longer than 90 days requires a more elaborate visa application process and embassy websites of the desired country can be logged in for the required information. 

First, before your departure, you need to obtain all necessary vaccines especially when travelling to developing countries. Then, pack all travelling essentials.

Staying safe requires a significant amount of homework which includes taking the right vaccinations and packing journey essentials

During your journey, you need to apply universal safety precaution at all times.

Upon arrival at the host country, you need to be cautious about in-country safety precautions that include going to isolated places, be aware of your surroundings and avoid eating food from unsafe places.

For your health and safety, vaccination is mandatory before departure especially when you are travelling to developing countries.

We highly recommend that you discuss all the necessary vaccinations with your physician.

As part of our application screening process, all participants must provide a proof of a criminal background check to our office. To find out how to obtain a criminal background check, please contact your local police department in your area. Also, ensure that your criminal background check documentations meet our program requirements.

Yes,  travel insurance coverage is compulsory for all our participants that are going abroad for either internship or volunteer. The coverage must includes medical coverage, emergency medical evacuation, local ambulance expenses, trip interruption and other related medical treatment expenses.  WCI can provide you with list of reputable travel insurance providers.

No. travel insurance is mandatory for all WCI internship/volunteer program participants. We can provide a list of travel insurance providers to you . we encourage all our participants to shop around for the most affordable insurance policy.

At the airport, you will be welcome with warm greetings by our host country representative’ who will be carrying a placard with your name boldly written on it. Then, He or  She will accompany you and take you to your accommodation. You will also be given an orientation about the place and transportation facilities, and in case you need any assistance, you can reach out to us at any point in time.

Yes, you will have the weekends free and you can do sightseeing as well as explore the most popular places of tourist interest in the country where you will be volunteering. Our local coordinators are always available to arrange any local trips.

On the weekdays, volunteers and interns are free during the evenings to explore the local markets. Also, We can arrange for planned excursions/tours while in the host country. Contact us for more details.

If Meals are included in your program package, therefore meals will be provided 2-3 times a day. Mainly, the local cuisine will be served, and it’s absolutely healthy and freshly made.

Please Note:

  • If you are on special diet or a vegetarian, please let us know on time so that we can make adequate arrangement to accommodate your needs.
  • Also, if you are At homestay accommodations, you’ll have a chance to eat along with your host family, which will be an incredible experience in itself.

The accommodation entirely depends on the project and the location you choose. There are different types of accommodations varies from location to location, they are usually dormitory-style or with vetted and verified host families.

In addition, there are  cases when interns/volunteers might have to stay at the placement site.

Typically, accommodations are arrange for individuals with the same gender.

We usually accommodate rooms on the same gender sharing basis. However, if you let us know ahead about getting a single room, if it is available in your chosen location, we shall be glad to offer you a private room. Truthfully, we cannot guarantee anything but we can  definitely try our best for this. If you are traveling with your partner or a friend, or along with your family, then we’d accommodate all of you together so that you can have a good time. Extra charges for private room accommodation may apply depending on the program location.

No matter where you stay, we’ll ensure that you have all the basic necessities and our team will take care of your privacy as well as safety concerns.

When you are in the host country, the program fees that you pay covers your basic accommodation, at least 1  or 2 meals per day except weekend. It’s all depends on the project), project placement costs, and in-country assistance.

Besides that, if you choose to head out for eating, exploring the city you are placed in, taking weekend travel options will add to your existing costs. Please Note: the cost of living in most of the developing countries are relatively in expensive.

Depending on how remote your project site and accommodation is located, most of the accommodations do have internet facilities, but we cannot guarantee about getting internet connection. However, in the cities around you, there are many business centers where you can go and access the internet. Otherwise, you can get a local SIM card once you reach your destination, and purchase a data pack in your phone.
